Description
On Ice Instruction
At every age and level, all hockey games are made up of hundreds of battle and compete-type situations. The more battles you win, the more effective you are as a player and the more valuable you are to your team. The result is….your coach wants you on the ice more. The best players win the most battles….both stick battles and physical battles. They want to own the puck. This is a skill that can be taught. The skills involved are both physical and mental. Understanding body stance & position, angle of attack, timing, puck protection in open ice and on the boards as well as anticipating your opponents tactics are just some of the key aspects of developing the skills needed to increase your “battles won” percentage.
This camp is designed to help you achieve that goal.
NOTE: This camp will included body contact situations. The drills are designed for players from as young as 8 years old and are taught in a safe and controlled environment against players of similar age and caliber.
Shooting & Puck Control in Snipers Den
Students will receive 45 mins per day of shooting and puck control instruction in our 1800 sq ft synthetic ice shooting range, the Snipers Den. Since opening in April 2024, the Snipers Den has been incredibly popular with our students and has been an excellent addition to our program.
In the Snipers Den, our staff are able to break down and correct basic and advanced techniques and inefficiencies that prevent players from achieving their “best shot” or “great hands”. Students will shoot and handle hundreds of puck and have a ton of fun at the same time.
Off-Ice Training Description
For the off-ice training portion of the camp, we will quickly convert our Snipers Den Shooting range in workout stations. Students will work with a partner and rotate through the fitness stations. Focus will be on overall balance & agility, upper and lower body strength, speed, quickness & mobility, conditioning and flexibility. Students will work at their own level under the guidance of our fitness training staff learning basic and advanced training routines & exercises.
